Since it wasn’t the Grammys or the VMAs — or any sort of event that demands the live-Tweets of the “Selenator” fan army — you may not have seen how Selena Gomez was ambushed by a stage-crasher Wednesday night in New York.
Gomez serves as spokes-tween for Adidas’ streetwear label Neo, and at the brand’s New York Fashion Week Event last night the pop star was around to cheerlead for the new season of t-shirts and sneaks. But a Selena Gomez public appearance can provide an opportunity to so many people: Crazed fans, and anti-sweatshop protesters alike.
The latter category plays into this story, though, and as the Adidas fashion show got underway, the Daily Mail reports protestors from a group called United Students Against Sweatshops nearly stalled the event, as they distributed flyers about the sportswear giant’s labour practices and attempted to rush the stage.
